Stranded Thought

Well here goes nothing.

Hello all! My name is Mary and I am a multifaceted clusterfuck. With, as you guessed it, a potty mouth.

I am creating this more for me then anything else. If people read and like then fantastic!

We all need an outlet and I have decided this is going to be mine. Think, write, purge, repeat. That will be my motto for 2024.

Back to the intro, describing who I am is a tough. As the great Shrek once said, “ogres are like onions”, meaning they have layers. And so too do I.

We all have a tendency to characterize ourselves by our job titles, sexuality, relationship status and so on but as we all know we are so much more . Thus we are all onions.

In a nutshell, I am an Irish American living in Ireland who at this stage has had many past professional lives. I am married to a wonderful Dublin man and together we have a beautiful daughter and stellar dog.

One of my past professional lives is that of a journalist and so I write. For me, this is a form of release and is long overdue.

At the start of every new year, a majority of us humans make a resolution we don’t stick to. Here’s the thing, my “New Year’s resolution” didn’t start in January 2024, it actually began in July 2023 and I am seven months late in starting it.

Better late than never eh?

In 2023, I turned 40 and I promised myself I would do 40 things for 40. One being to write more. This is to be my self-help/selfish year and to be honest I am not doing too bad, despite having no idea what I am doing!

So here is it, me finding myself and sharing my bullshit with the world. Hope you all enjoy it!
